The Center for Communication Research

The Center for Communication Research is dedicated to promoting communication research at the University of Wisconsin and beyond.   Situated within the UW’s Department of Communication Arts and housed in Vilas Hall, the Center is staffed by the Department’s Communication Science faculty and graduate students, with Professor Emerita Joanne Cantor serving as Director. 

We are pleased to welcome our newest faculty member:

Professor Lyn van Swol is joining us this fall as a new faculty member in Communication Arts and a member of the Center for Communication Research. Professor van Swol earned her Ph. D. in social psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and most recently was on the faculty of Northwestern. Her main areas of interest are group discussion and social influence. Professor van Swol’s research and teaching interests in interpersonal communication provide a important complement to our existing emphases and we look forward to collaborating with her.
